FALSE IMAGE

This week’s blog is a more sensitive and controversial topic, but it is a very important topic to look into.

There was a study done where scientist created an imitation female butterfly that was more vibrant and bigger than the usual female butterfly, they placed it in a butterfly conservatory during breeding season… right away the male butterfly’s left the other females to give attention to the fake butterfly with more pronounced characteristics, within a few seconds the fake butterfly was covered with male butterflies to the point where you couldn’t see the fake butterfly anymore. This kind of experiment has been done the same way with many different species including fish being lured by a log replicated to look like a more colorful fish and the same effects happened to the log as the fake butterfly. The most evident example of males being attracted to the fake overcompensated females is in today’s time with pornography when seeing the unrealistic images of women and sex.

PORNOGRAPHY

Pornography gives a false and mistaken image of sex, over exaggerating a man and woman’s capability. Pornography plays a huge role in destroying marriages and relationships.

A woman who once participated in this type of film making had left that life behind and later joined the church, she had mentioned that “Almost no woman can be a part of film making without being on drugs because it breaks them.” This type of “love” is unrealistic and seems impossible to compete with. It is common for women to feel less than the women that her husband sees in porn, and they think “I can’t compete with that!” and it lowers the self-esteem of women in relationships or ones who are attempting to start a romantic relationship.

“Men give attention to get sex and woman give sex to get attention” a young man in my family studies class had explain this (sometimes unintentional) concept while we were studying why woman who are married feel that their husbands always want sex, so wives distance themselves because the wife corresponds attention and affection to leading to sex. In a book that a student had read there was a story of a woman who would never physically (non-sexually) touch her husband because it always led to him wanting sex and most of the time this woman wasn’t in the mood or interested at the time to have sex with her husband.

HIGH FIDELITY

the reproduction of sound with little distortion, giving a result very similar to the original. Being very raw in sound to remain real as possible.

Back in the 1900 there was a magazine called “High fidelity” that showcased a sound system that created the illusion of feeling like you could hear music as if you were at a concert hearing it live. After almost 40 years the magazine and the sound systems had died because people didn’t like the sound of raw and real music, they liked the sound of “auto-tuned” music that technologies measures and alter pitch levels in instrumental and vocal music recording. The original use was to disguise or correct pitch, allowing tracks to sound perfectly tuned despite being slightly off-pitch. This is similar to the false image of woman and or relationships. We have access to the FAKE stuff and now we don’t want what’s real.
